The 6 Phases:

Build

This phase involves a lot of strength training which allows the coach to determine where your weaknesses are physically and mentally so that we can adjust your run program accordingly

Progressive

During this phase we will have your aerobic baseline allowing us to progress and increase your aerobic endurance

Anaerobic

We start to incorporate hill sprints, tempo runs, and more intensity

Mental

Now we start to incorporate longer run workouts to become more comfortable being uncomfortable. You will face those mental battles during your race and you want to be familiar with it so you can overcome it.

Finishing

You have put in the work building and now we use your new baseline of endurance and strength to practice maintaining a zone 2/3 heartrate, so you can sustain your energy output throughout the race. This will give you the ability to sprint and push harder than anyone as you approach the finish line.

Preparation

Start your deload runs, get last minute snacks/gear, and relax! No need to be nervous. At this point if you have put in the work and you are about to take on an adventure that is going to be with you the rest of your life. Congrats and enjoy this new exciting fitness journey!

I was always a sprinter, I was never a long-distance runner, my cadence was terrible, my gate was off, struggling with shin splints, etc. I worked with one of the best endurance coaches Dave Weiner (now a CF Coach) and after 20 weeks of strength and conditioning, mile repeat test, fixing my running form, and building up my aerobic fitness I crushed my first half marathon. That day changed my life. Since then, I have continued to succeed in many other races, now training for my first trail run race.
